Knotworking released their second record, "notes left out" in the Spring of 2002 and will release "The Garden Below" in May of 2003. Edward Gorch is the main creative force behind Knotworking. All of the songs in the past have been written by Ed and he sings and plays guitar on all the recordings. For the past 3 years Ed has been playing and recording with guitar phenom Mike Hotter. In the past year they have solidified the knotworking lineup to include 2 other members. Karen Codd on cello and vocals. Megan Prokorym on fiddle and vocals. In their short time together knotworking have released 2 LP's and a split 7" and now will release The Garden Below, their third full length album. This will be their first "studio" album. All previous work was home recorded. This record also marks the songwriting debut of Mike Hotter who contributes three songs to the record including the title track. . When not in the studio knotworking are a busy live band. They have opened for all the top names in Independent Americana including Varnaline, Alejandro Escoveda, Fred Eaglesmith, Richard Buckner and Johnny Dowd. They play relentlessly in New York, NJ and Mass. Occasionally they venture further. The band also showcased at the CMJ 2001 Fest. These kids like to play. They made it to #14 on Spinner.com's alt-country station in June 2002. Right behind Songs:Ohia and right ahead of the mighty Wilco. They are making some noise. Good noise. Stay tuned for the new record and look for a live show in your area soon. It's an Americana extravaganza well worth your $8. |
